Luminox SR-71 Blackbird Series Watches
The SR-71 Blackbird is one of the most amazing aircraft ever built. It is a long range advanced strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed when the USAF and the CIA decided to replace the U-2 Dragonlady reconnaissance jets. The Lockheed Martin A-12 first replaced the U-2 and then ultimately the SR-71 Blackbird was its replacement.
The first flight of the SR-71 took place in 1964. The SR-71 was retired in 1990. They were capabable of flying at speeds over Mach 3.2 and at 85,000 feet. Throughout its nearly 24 year career, the SR-71 remained the fastest and highest flying production aircraft in the world. One of the incredible speed records set by the SR-71 include the one set from London to Los Angeles in 1974. The SR-71 had an average speed of 1435 mph. In 1976 it set a world record of 2193 mph and an altitude record of horizontal flight at 85,069 feet.
